Paper on urban congestion out in Nature Communications

Our recent work on the structural invariance of the betweenness centrality (BC) in streets networks, an indicator of potential congestions and traffic loads,  is now out in Nature Communications. In this work, we show that the existence of high traffic intersections in a street network is due to the existence of a structurally invariant traffic backbone,  tied to the very planar nature of the street networks. This is in collaboration with Marc Barthelemy (Institut de Physique Théorique, Gif-sur-Yvette, France).
